Mars, known as the “Red Planet” (due to the iron-rich dust), it is this 4th planet in the Solar System. Mars has the moons Phobos and Deimos, which in 50 million years Phobos will crash our break apart and will create dusty rings around mars. The planet doesn’t have anything living currently. Mars has a radius of 2,106 miles (3,390 kilometers), Mars is about half the size of Earth. Mars can orbit around the Sun every 24.6 hours. Martian days are called sols(short for “solar day.”) 1 year on Mars last 669.6 sols. Phobos, the closest and bigger moon, is cratered, with deep grooves on its surface. It is slowly moving towards Mars and will crash into the planet or break apart in about 50 million years.
